In light of the evolving COVID-19 situation, Bishop Joseph has issued measures that are effective immediately to prevent the transmission of the COVID-19 virus. Information from the Bishop’s office can be found on the Diocesan website <here>.
Our obligation to attend Sunday Mass has been temporarily suspended – attendance at one of our Masses will be at your discretion.
We are implementing the following:
- Sunday Masses are cancelled. This includes Saturday @ 7pm and Sunday @ 10am.
- Weekday Masses continue, but they are NOT open to the public.
- Churches remain open for private prayer after Mass is finished – social distancing guidelines must be adhered to.
- Online Mass is recommended (see the RCDK.org site for links)
- Confirmation and First Holy Communion have been cancelled indefinitely.
- Reconciliation is not cancelled, but will be held in a place where 2 conditions are met: the Confessor and the Penitent are 6 ft apart, and no one can overhear. The screen between the Confessor and the Penitent will be used. Please contact Father Vincent to make an appointment.
- Avoid physical contact with others. A distance of 2 metres should be maintained at all times.
- All material will be removed from the pews, including hymnals, prayer cards, etc.
- Following each Mass or gathering, all pew-backs, table-tops, and other high-touch surfaces will be disinfected.
